Re-envisioning Chinatown

Denver, CO

evolving community project

On October 31st 1880 in what is now the LoDo district in Denver, there was an anti-chinese race riot that lynched and killed one man, brutally injured hundreds, and destroyed the Chinatown businesses and residences of that period. Not many Denverites know this history of our city- I didn't. Working as an ally alongside the Asian American Pacific Islander Commission as well as Colorado's State Historian and other designers, we aim to shed light on this past and celebrate the present Chinese and larger Asian communities.
